We have established close links with our partner primary schools and we take great care to ensure that the transition to Cantonian is an enjoyable one for our pupils. During the summer term of Year 6, pupils and their parents are invited to the school to familiarise themselves with their new surroundings and to meet the staff.
Our Transition Plan formal arrangements are held up as a model of good practice and more than meet the requirements placed upon us. Pupils are carefully assessed by both primary and Cantonian staff to ensure that each child is placed in an appropriate grouping, and of course we make sure that children are placed with at least one of their special friends whenever possible.
We monitor each child very carefully especially in the first term after they have arrived because we want to make sure that they have settled into school and that they have been placed in a suitable tutor group. Any alterations will always be made in full consultation with parents.
In-Year Admissions
A significant number of pupils choose to come to Cantonian from other schools at various points in their school career. Parents can ask us to admit their child to Cantonian at any stage of their child's education.
Sixth Form Admissions
Many students continue their education at Cantonian High School in our Sixth Form, and we also welcome admissions from new students. We offer a wide range of vocational and academic courses in partnership with other providers and students receive substantial support throughout from the Head of Sixth Form, Subject Area Leaders, Classroom Teachers, Form Tutors and Pastoral Staff, as well as outside agencies who visit the school to offer advice and support with, for example, UCAS applications.
